Linda Lutomski, PFS art teacher, is already preparing for a great year next year as she spends time Weaving on the Web

Lutomski is really enjoying her "Weaving on the Web" workshop with notable Native teachers, Lorraine and Peggy Black from Crow Canyon. These instructors respectfully harvested and prepared the traditional sumac for the class. Lutomski says "I have a greater respect for the history, culture and art of the Dinè people! Each class is filled with guest speakers, virtual visits to museum collections, as well as conversations with scholars and researchers to enlighten us!" Thank you Mrs. Lutomski for following up on your National Endowment for Humanities study grant and diving into this summer professional development to enrich your classes for our PFS students. Lutomski is learning this valuable craft during her summer professional development in order to bring this skill back to our Pagosa Family School students--PFS students are going to love doing this project!!

Students in Mrs. Rose's PFS art class had opportunity to showcase in 2 art shows

Mrs. Rose's class was given the opportunity to submit their work to two different art shows. One was hosted through MSU (Metropolitan State University) that wanted to give youth the opportunity to let students express themselves through art. Students were encouraged to submit artwork that answered the prompt about growth or overcoming challenges in the past year. Keep your eyes out for a link in which students can see their work displayed and recognized in a virtual gallery. The students' work was also showcased at the Open School art show and some even won prizes! Congratulations, Addie Hittle, for winning first place for 6th-12 grade! Mrs. Rose hopes that all students will feel encouraged to participate in next year's MSU art invitational coming in the fall. Whether you participated or not, please know that your teacher is so proud of all your hard work and creativity.
