Elementary PFS students are enjoying team building games and movement every day in P.E. Rain or shine - these Pagosa Family School students are having fun as they engage in physical activity - all while practicing teamwork, collaboration, and social skills through Ms. DeEtte's fun P.E. activities.

Choir is off to a great start as students are already learning 3 songs for a fall showcase. Stay tuned for date/time that these students will perform these 3 songs for parents and family in late October. Students in choir are also working on sight reading skills, reading music and rhythmic notation.

Students in Mrs. Rose's art class had a chance to rotate through various stations to try out different kinds of art mediums. From watercolor to charcoal to Prisma colored pencils to soft pastels to modeling clay, the students all enjoyed getting to get familiar with various materials as well as get to know each other!

Mrs. Wiggers' sewing students are keeping busy as they have already learned to sew on buttons and have practiced hand stitching. Look for them to be bringing home their "monster buddy" soon.

It's all about perspective! The first day students spent time getting acquainted with cameras in Mrs. Lutomski and Miss Mattie's art class! They went outside and had a fun scavenger hunt to take a hand at their new photography skills.

Elementary students are learning all about Haydn, the composer of the month! As they learn about Haydn's music, they also get to play along to his music with bucket drums and boomwhackers!

Student artists in Mrs. Lutomski's and Miss Mattie's art class have been lining up to teach their favorite drawing techniques to their classmates!

Lutomski is really enjoying her "Weaving on the Web" workshop with notable Native teachers, Lorraine and Peggy Black from Crow Canyon. These instructors respectfully harvested and prepared the traditional sumac for the class. Lutomski says "I have a greater respect for the history, culture and art of the Dinè people! Each class is filled with guest speakers, virtual visits to museum collections, as well as conversations with scholars and researchers to enlighten us!" Thank you Mrs. Lutomski for following up on your National Endowment for Humanities study grant and diving into this summer professional development to enrich your classes for our PFS students.
Lutomski is learning this valuable craft during her summer professional development in order to bring this skill back to our Pagosa Family School students--PFS students are going to love doing this project!!
